The march “Walking Until We Find Them” by family members of disappeared individuals came to an end without any response from the authorities of the state of Chihuahua

Chihuahua, Chih., March 21, 2022. After walking approximately 300 kilometers from Hidalgo del Parral to the city of Chihuahua, the mothers, daughters, wives and sisters of disappeared individuals ended the day in front of the Government Palace where they once again demanded an opportunity to speak to the State’s Attorney General and Secretary General

Since last December, through the Center for Women’s Human Rights (CEDEHM), an organization where the families that undertook this march are grouped, the families have requested a meeting with the aforementioned authorities, but to date no appointment has been granted. This is what prompted the families to undertake this journey that ended today.

In front of the Government Palace, the families demanded that Governor María Eugenia Campos Galván not turn a blind eye to the problem that keeps over 3,000 families throughout Chihuahua in pain and uncertainty as they don’t know the fate or whereabouts of their loved ones. They also requested greater resources for the search and investigation, as well as effective coordination by the authorities of the various State Attorney’s zones.

Gabino Gómez, coordinator of the disappeared individuals area of the CEDEHM, pointed out that at no time during the march was there communication with the authorities to agree on the requested meeting.

At CEDEHM, we will continue to accompany the various efforts that are already being planned, to materialize the meeting that the families demand, just as they did with the governments of Javier Corral and César Duarte, so this should not be the exception. Let us remember that the authorities were elected to serve the people.
