We appreciate the response to the regional campaign called “Northern Women for Truth and Justice (Norteñas por la Verdad y la Justicia)”

The closing of the campaign becomes an open door of solidarity

Press release

To the family members of disappeared and/or murdered women

To the supportive people in the media

To the general public

On February 29, we started a joint process between social organizations through the campaign Northern Women for Truth and Justice (Norteñas por la Verdad y la Justicia) with the hashtag #EnElNorteLasNombramos (#InTheNorthWeNameThem).

We want to reiterate the importance of actions to simultaneously make visible the stories of women who have suffered gender-based violence in northern Mexico and, in turn,, express our gratitude for the support received during the campaign implementation process. Our search for justice is ongoing.

Although the goal of the campaign became a first exercise to generate a tribute to Memory, demanding Truth and Justice for each disappeared person, we would like to turn this space into an ongoing exercise through which more and more people can join in the process of simultaneous demand. Therefore, this closing process becomes a door that brings light and solidarity by thousands of women to change the violence situation in our country.

Public denunciation is one of the tools to initiate change, although we are sure that it is a difficult step for those who are subjected to violence; saying it implies a personal process that has to be lived internally but cannot be carried out alone: collective solidarity is necessary. Those who provide accompaniment from our trenches are here to help in these spaces. Our eternal gratitude. We continue to make visible that which others want to make invisible.
