Chihuahua, Chih., Mexico May 8th, 2023.- Today in the Garden of Justice, which is located in front of the facilities of the Chihuahua State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), installation work started for the mural called «Expressing Hope». The mural is part of the activities by the group of family members of disappeared persons that is accompanied by the Centro de Derechos Humanos de las Mujeres A. C. (Women’s Human Rights Center), (CEDEHM) as part of their efforts to keep alive the memory of the daughters and sons they continue to search for.
The day when the installation of the mosaic mural starts coincides with the departure of 53 people representing the collective who leave for Mexico City, where the 12th National March for Dignity – Mothers Looking for their Daughters and Sons will take place on May 10th. They will demonstrate for the thousands of seeking mothers, who have nothing to celebrate on May 10th, Mother’s Day.
According to the National Registry of Missing and Disappeared Individuals (RNPDNO), as of today, in Mexico there are 112 thousand disappeared individuals, 3,546 of whom are from the state of Chihuahua.
The demands of the families and the organizations that accompany them will always be for truth, reparations, finding victims alive, memory and justice, because disappearing is not normal and having a disappeared family member should not be the reality of any family, and because the disappeared have left a void in all of us.
Until we find them!
